A Time to Keep
Once upon a time...I found my inspiration. I discovered my Grandparent’s 1940’s era farm sign in the eaves of an outbuilding and with my husband’s assistance hauled it home.
I’ve always felt there is something inherently eloquent about the tangible history recorded in old signs and clock faces. Currently one will find our redeemed farm sign hanging with honor (and I think glory) on the dining wall here at minglewood house.
During my creative endeavors I do my best to salvage and recycle what I can. Some of my favorite tricks of the trade, if you will, include using rather worn sandpaper, truly “well loved” brushes and incorporating paints left over from various projects. At times I reclaim boards and faces of unfavorable attempts or long term inventory. Do not be surprised to find a previous attempt on the back of your timepiece or signboard.
Minglewood creations are individually designed, hand painted and finished in the studio. You will find most pieces have a time worn aesthetic. Each is individually handled, do please allow for slight variations is size, color and detail~the very essence of what makes each unique. Because of the variety of paints and finishes used I recommend these wares for indoor use only.
I hope you find these works capture a spirit: of places we’ve been, the times we’ve had; and perhaps even a sign of good times to come!
